I have been a dental assistant with Dr. Berg and Dr. Johnson for almost six years. I prepare our patients for dental procedures, while listening to their concerns. I always treat our patients as I would want to be treated if I were in their shoes. The best part of my job is when my patients leave smiling and relieved that their visit was actually a positive experience! Our goal is to provide excellent dentistry and patient satisfaction. Dr. Berg and Dr. Johnson are wonderful dentists who provide excellent dental work. They are kind and easy to work with and have a great sense of humor. Outside the office, I love being a mother and a grandma!

I have worked for Dr. Berg and Dr. Johnson as a registered dental hygienist for 12 years. This has given me enough time to really get to know my patients and detect subtle changes in their mouths over time. I love educating my patients on how to improve their overall health. Making that connection is important, and I love getting people excited about improving their teeth and gums! At home, I live with my husband, Phil, our two children, Anna and Ben, and our dog Mazy. My family and I like to hike and camp together!

Dentistry is fun for me, and I enjoy caring for patients of all ages and walks of life. I feel so fortunate to join this great dental team! We help our excellent dentists create beautiful smiles, and help people enrich their overall health. we're proud to treat our patients with state of the art equipment and technology, and we keep up to date with education and current techniques.

I am very privileged to have a long career in dentistry, starting in high school, being trained by my dentist Dad. As a hygienist for more than 35 years in the Rogue Valley, I've built friendships with many dentists and wonderful patients. Now, coming full-circle, I am so content to work with my son, whose skills as a dentist make me very proud.

In my free time I enjoy being with family and friends, preferably outdoors. I have fun bicycling, gardening, kayaking, golfing, hiking, and skiing. I also like to sew, cook, and read.

Managing Stress to Reduce Bruxism
Bruxism is more common in people who are incredibly stressed out. They clench their teeth together, leaving the teeth and surrounding tissues to pay the price. If you have been struggling with jaw clenching, teeth grinding, or a lot of stress lately, then it may be a good time to think about strategies to cope with stress. Here are a few tips to help you keep your stress levels down.

Schedule What Parts of Your Life You Can
If you create a schedule for the parts of your life that do not often change, you will have more structure and feel like less things are coming up unexpectedly. This lets you plan better, manage time better, and reduce your overall stress. Put what days you know you need to go to the bank or store on the schedule, and plan your trips in the way that makes the most sense for giving yourself a sense of structure.

Evaluate Major Stressors in Your Life
Certain aspects of our lives may cause more stress than others, such as work, health, relationships, or finances. The amount of stress something causes may not always be constant, but if you are noticing a certain part of your life causing more stress lately, it may be time to evaluate that aspect and find ways to manage or avoid that stress.

Protect Your Teeth if You Can't Keep Your Stress Down Yet
One of the more common struggles people face is stress that is out of their hands. If you are currently experiencing this kind of stress, the best strategy is to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth frequently, contact our office today, and we can discuss fitting you for a mouth guard to protect your teeth from the stress of clenching. This way your teeth stay safe even if life is still stressful.
